Scarborough:an introduction
As a holiday destination, Scarborough really does have it all; dramatic cliffs and castle headland, award-winning beaches, historic harbour, great family attractions, booming town centre, huge choice of accommodation and a warm Yorkshire welcome to match. Scarborough's proximity to Dalby: Yorkshire's Great Forest, The North York Moors National Park, the Wolds and the dramatic scenery of the Yorkshire Coast makes Scarborough a perfect base from which to explore this most diverse region of Britain.
Many vistors are attracted to Scarborough for it's temperate climate, the North Sea keeping the coast milder in winter but not too hot in the summer. That's not to say we don't enjoy plenty of sunshine. Scarborough is one of the sunniest places in the UK, sheltered by the Pennines further west from the worst of the low pressure systems. The record high temperature recorded in Scarborough was a very warm 33C and the average sea temperature in summer is a pleasant 15C. In 1970 it was 12.9C, a sign of climate change perhaps?
